The Rafford Springs Story:
Deane Rafford was twelve years old when he was asked by his father if he would ever have any use for the land down back. At that age, the amount of money that was offered for it sounded like a million dollars. So, the parcel of land that was in the Rafford family since the early 1900's was sold in 1987. As time went on, Deane grew up regretting the fact that the land that they once owned was no longer in the family.
Time passed and Deane went to college after graduating high school in 1994. His dad passed away in 1995 and he lived in Mapleton while he attended college. The old house just sat there empty. For a long period of time, the land that was sold just sat there until the owners found a use for it. In 1994, a water bottling plant was built.
Deane became a family man and moved his family to a new home that he put in place at the old site where he grew up with his father through his high school years. After so much time had passed, He was finally back home.
He worked hard as a logger, providing for his family and decided to purchase his first piece of forestry equipment in 2005. As time went on, he expanded to another piece of equipment and hired an employee to run it. As a family man, he didn't have much time to spend with his family. So, when the opportunity in the summer of 2010 came up to purchase a piece of land that his father had once sold, he jumped with both feet, never looking back.
Little did he know the opportunity that went along with the land and the contents on it. It would change his life, get a part of his family's land back, and give him the chance to pursue a new and exciting adventure. With the support of family and friends, he has dedicated himself to giving the people the best service that he can offer with the best tasting water that they can drink.
The Water Story:
Rafford Springs Bottles and distributes one of the few spring waters available today that can truly be called "pure spring water". Rafford Springs, Inc's flagship brand will be the Rafford Springs label, which originates from one of the largest aquifers, formed during the Ice Age in primeval mountain bedrock, in North America, in the pristine Northern Maine location of Garfield Plantation. This source borders some 10 million acres of Northern Maine's undeveloped Allagash wilderness. The water flows naturally to the surface without any assistance and no chemicals are ever added and thus this product can truly be called clean, pure, natural spring water.
